Technical Skills

Ceramics
loading/unloading kilns, kiln maintenance and repair, firing in oxidation and reduction, wheel maintenance and repair, clay recycling, glaze making, glaze recipe authoring, building cone packs. Also proficient in throwing, casting, and hand building techniques.
Woodworking
proficient with band saw, miter saw, table saw, belt and drum sander, panel saw, hand and power tools, applying wood finishes. Capable of basic maintenance.
Textiles
hand and machine sewing, machine servicing, weaving, crochet
Printmaking
ferric chloride/copper etching, woodcut, linoleum, stone lithography, silkscreen. Press upkeep and small repairs, brayer and roller maintenance.

Role-Specific Skills

Uphold standards of safety, implement standard operating procedures, administer training for equipment in woodshop, kiln room, fabrication lab, and printmaking.

Oversees procurement of materials and equipment, maintains departmental inventories.

Holds relationship with various suppliers, including Skutt, Standard Clay Company, AMACO, The Ceramics Shop, and more.

Coordinates kiln firings, schedules kiln downtime and repair.

Tracks facility and procurement requests on shared document.

Fills in for teaching faculty when away.
